September 17th 2011 Wine Tasting
THAT'S RIGHT, BONUS WINE TASTING, HOORAH!!!
SOME ARE BACK AND SOME ARE NEW!!! IF YOU HAVEN'T HAD IT THEN IT'S NEW TO YOU!!!
FIVE ARE DRY, AND THREE ARE SWEET, YOU'RE BOUND TO FIND AT LEAST ONE THAT'S NEAT!!!
Kila 2009 Cava, Brut, $11.99
Cava, a Spanish term meaning made in the traditional Champagne Method. It's unprecedented till now to find a vintage cava for so little money. It is light, though is quite clean and crisp, and just fantastic for $11.99.
Domaine Ferrer Ribiere, 2010 Cotes Catalanes, Rouge $9.99
This one is finally back and here to stay. About two thirds is Syrah, and the rest is Carignan. It's bright and fresh as red wines go, medium bodied it'll go with heavy fish and chicken dishes, though bone dry and tannic, it's so smooth you'll never think it's harsh, enjoy this little treat.
Chateau Haut Nadeau, 2008 Bordeaux Superieur, Rouge, $19.99 / On Sale $11.99
Buy by the case and it's $9.99 a bottle on straight cases only!
Okay all you Bordeaux lovers here is your chance, the winery is anxious to get their 2009 vintage to market, so they are trying to finish out their 2008 vintage first. WOW what a deal! This wine is big, if you like bone dry wine, you'll love it, if you like wine with your food you'll love it, if you want to age this wine for ten years you'll love it. Made from 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon these deals don't come along often, get it while it's here, we have ten cases, and I estimate they'll be gone in two weeks or less, I can't wait for you to try this - put a steak on first, or maybe some grilled lamb.
Bautista Simona, 2009 Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina, $14.99
It's a big chunk of burning Malbec - cassis, black cherries, violets, and lots of chocolate on the finish, needs a little time to breathe, but is amazing once open. The tannins are round and the stemmy / earthy note is just balanced enough. Why this doesn't cost a lot more I don't know, hopefully the wine critics won't find out about it, that'll keep the price down. This wine is just as great as many I've had costing much more.
Renacer, 2009 Punto Final, Malbec, $19.99
Stewed and raisin like, it's just like the one before it, but much more intense, and heavy in body.
Veleta, Sweet Melodies, $14.99
Yeah I'm still laughing at the name too, however, have you ever had a late harvest Viognier from south central Spain? It's incredible, and it's not too sweet, it's delicious
Ca' dei Mandornli, 2010 Moscato d'Asti, $19.99
The best Moscato I've ever had, it has every aroma and flavor that can be found in Moscato.
Ca' dei Mandornli, 2010 Brachetto D'Acqui, $19.99
Ever wish Moscato could be red, well here it is, enjoy!
As always thank you for your patronage,
